Different animations have been coming out for the much awaited smartwatch from Apple, called the “iWatch” since a while now. Few days back ,Thomas Bogner posted a version of the iWatch which looks very much like a combination of Nike Fuelband and an iPhone.

He says, After several weeks with my new fuel band and a quiet disappointing revamp last week it got me thinking what functions i would love to see in a so called “smartwatch” like this – not that many actually. But I really liked the idea of wrapping the Interface around the wrist and have something like the clickwheel rotating around my arm. The main problem is, i love the form-factor of the fuel band but would it be practical to read more text than “GOAL” or even interact with it? If the possibilities are just swipe and tap i’m sure it’s possible but a watch has to be something that people like to use and i am not quiet convinced if this would be the fact.” Given below is a version of his iWatch, you can also check it out here.

This was an impressive concept and got a lot of people excited, however a lot of people realised that it had a major flaw i.e. the orientation of the interface made it impossible to use. With this basic concept in mind, Todd Hamilton created a more user friendly version of iWatch that looked a little bit more like something Apple would produce. Check out this video below for the latest version.

For now, this is the closest, realistic version of the iWatch we have. Have an interesting take on this? Share in the comments section below.

With Apple all set to launch its latest innovations soon at the WWDC, Google is also preparing to unveil Android TV at its Google I/O conference in this month. Google will launch this platform around June 25 to June 26 this year.

Android TV is going to be a new platform for the manufacturers of TVs and set-top boxes. This platform will allow them to bring streaming services to the television and make Google’s entry into your living room. As opposed to Google TV that was launched in 2010, Android TV integrates online media services as well as Android-based games.

Google is believed to be in discussion with Netflix and Hulu Plus about playing a role in Android TV. The company may also launch a few hardware partners for Android TV. Android TV may also launch its secret weapon, dubbed as Pano. Android TV is presumed to build a simple user interface whose key element is internally named as Pano.

Pano will display apps as individual pieces of content in a card-like fashion on the home screen. This will allow users to browse their favorite movies and TV shows on Android TV. Google will use the card-style UI that can be browsed horizontally on this platform as opposed to the traditional smart TV experience. The content will be presented in a series of cards. Apart from that, each movie or TV show episode will have deep links in the publisher’s app. With this, the users will be able to get the option to start playing at once.

Its important to note that Android TV is a software platform and not a hardware platform. So, we can soon expect that Google will launch Android TV platform at the I/O and provide vendors the freedom to develop it further.

It’s that time of year again, when millions of people pre-order and wait in line for days, and no, it’s not a Black Friday. The new iPhone 5 has been launched and people cannot stop talking about it.  After months of rumors and overwhelming hype, Apple fanatics can finally get their hands on the new iPhone 5. While it flaunts an all-new design with 4G LTE, a slimmer profile and a larger 4-inch Retina display, Apple is calling it “the biggest thing to happen to iPhone since iPhone.”

iPhone-5-237x300.jpg

The most attractive feature of the iPhone 5 is its new design. The second major change is the replacement of Google maps with a new Apple version that includes navigation. iPhone 5 is 20 percent lighter, 18 percent thinner, and 12 percent smaller by volume than the iPhone 4S. With 0.3 inches thickness and 3.95 ounces weight, it’s one of the thinnest and lightest smartphones available. That’s an impressive feat, considering that Apple has also increased the size of the display. The quality of the camera and the display shows a noticeable change indeed. The iPhone 5 has an 1136×640 pixels resolution retina display, while the iPhone 4s had 960×640 pixels display — this may not mean much, but in the realm of resolution, bigger numbers always mean better quality. The camera is still 8 megapixels, but the greater screen resolution displays sharper images, and makes it seem like it takes better-quality photos. It also has new optics and a faster processor that makes auto focus quicker, reducing the lag between clicking the snap and actual recording of the image. iPhone 5 also has a slew of features like iOS 6, a faster processor and 4G LTE connectivity.

The Apple fans would tell you there’s nothing that compares to the iPhone and living without the newest version, well, just isn’t an option. The thing is, Apple lovers seem to think all of this technology is new, but it’s actually been around for a while. Other smartphones are already faster with 4G and have had bigger screens than the iPhone for a while now. But along with these new updates, the iPhone 5 has negatives as well. The map features seem like a step in the wrong direction, the lightning port requires all new cords, some applications are not ready for the updated iphone5, and the aluminum covering scratches easily.

Just like any other phone, there will be issues, but overall, users are welcoming the iPhone 5. The issues will be worked out with time and the creators of the iPhone will continue to adapt in order to make the consumer happy. So will you ditch the old model for the new, or are you sticking to it ’till number 6 inevitably rolls out?

It is highly possible that the PlayStation 4 will arrive before the end of this year. Sony’s all set to launch the latest version of their immensely popular gaming console amidst much fanfare. It is well known that gamers all across the globe are eagerly anticipating the first foray of the PS4 into the market. This version of Sony’s PS4 is all set to take the virtual world by storm and augment gaming pleasure to unprecedented levels. Unfortunately, the release date for the PlayStation 4 in India is set for a few weeks after it has been launched in most global markets. This latest development has left certain sections of PlayStation 4 India fans a tad disappointed.

playstation-4-release-date-1024x637.jpg

The DRM episode
Sometime ago, buzz was abounding in the media and gaming circles that Sony was going to incorporate the DRM or Digital Right Management feature into the PS4. This would potentially restrict all gamers from trading or buying used games or even playing used games on the console, which in turn would mean the death of multiplayer gaming, as we know it. Understandably, the fans were outraged, and took to Twitter in droves to spew their vitriol against the company regarding this unfair move. Via a Hash-Tag campaign, the executives at Sony were bombarded with tweets ranging from the displeased, to the downright infuriated, and were ultimately forced to sit up and take notice of the distress among the fans. In an heartfelt and emotional response from Sony, many high-profile employees tweeted to declare that the passionate pleas of the fans are definitely not falling upon deaf ears.  Sony’s head of hardware marketing, John Koller, even went to the extent of stating that this is the reason why he loves the PlayStation fans, since their passion simply overflows. Another high-level employee took the fans twitter campaign as a symbol of validation that his passage as a Sony employee, which started 31 years ago, was the right one. Rest assured, Sony has taken note of this and has realized that when one has such die-hard loyal fans, the company needs to meet their demands halfway. Expect the company to make some changes regarding the DRM feature just before the PS4 is released.

PS4 to Support Remote Gaming
The President of Sony Computer Entertainment’s Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, confirmed that all Playstation 4 games would be playable on Sony’s handheld PS Vita through the remote play function, unless the game requires specific hardware like a camera. This bit of gaming console magic should also serve to boost the sales of the portable PS Vita. Those who already own the PS Vita will be able to play the PS4’s sterling repertoire of games via their portable, handheld console. All the more reason to look forward to the PlayStation 4’s launch later this year.

Microsoft is ready to launch the Xbox One as the ultimate all-in-one entertainment system. The Xbox One features the second generation of Kinect, Microsoft’s revolutionary motion sensing input device – tucked away deep inside the console’s mainframe. Microsoft has also deliberately endeavoured to match Sony PS4’s powerful specifications. The latest version of the Xbox aims to become the one-stop entertainment solution, by integrating live TV, games, movies and web services like Skype, all controlled using Kinect’s improved voice recognition features. Looks like the company is ready to enter a new era of console gaming and take on a new generation of multimedia consumers.

Xbox-One-Price-in-India.jpg

Features
Specifications: The Microsoft Xbox One is equipped with the latest x64 8-core AMD Jaguar processor, USB 3.0 ports, a 500 GB hard-drive and an 8GB DDR3 RAM. It also features an 802.11n Wi-Fi connection with a Wi-Fi Direct function, to efficiently exchange content between different devices, especially for the new Xbox controller. Microsoft has also for the first time infused an extra Blue-ray drive as a direct move to compete with Sony’s technology. It is well known that Sony had done away with the HD DVD drive a long time ago. Besides, this console comes with an HDMI output port along with an HDMI input port. This feature helps to connect the Xbox with a set-top box, in order to integrate it with your TV-viewing experience. Microsoft has left no stone unturned in designing the Xbox One like a miniature PC. Unlike its earlier versions, the specifications of the Xbox One puts it on par with Sony’s PS4 and augurs well for game creators interested in developing cross-platform games.

Xbox-One-Price-India.jpg

The controller and Kinect
The new Xbox One has Microsoft’s groundbreaking Kinect 2 functionality built into its very core. To turn the console on, one has to just utter the words “Xbox One, and voila, the console zooms into life, since it’s always listening. Kinect 2 is able to instantaneously respond to hand gestures and voice commands, which wasn’t possible with the Xbox 360’s original Kinect function. Moreover, with the help of this function, the user can switch between games, videos, music and live TV within seconds using simple voice commands such as “Xbox watch TV”. It’s even possible to switch between TV channels using similar voice commands. In fact, Microsoft states that Kinect 2 is so fast and powerful that it detects motion in just 13 billionths of a second – the same time it takes light to travel from a person to the camera. The Kinect sensor delivers a sharp resolution of 1080p and captures video at a high speed of 60 fps , which provides clearer and crispier images on an HD TV. Besides, Kinect 2 has a camera with a field of view 60 times larger than the original Kinect, which means greater mobility while playing the games. Along with this, it also boasts of an advanced processor, which enables a large number of people to play the game simultaneously. To boot, Microsoft claims that the new Kinect utilises infrared, permitting it to operate smoothly even in total darkness.

Xbox-One-India.jpg

The Bad Part
No used Games: Previously played discs will only function on another player’s user account if a fee of some sort is paid. No details as yet have been disclosed on what this fee might be or whether it will be charged to used game retailers or the people buying used games. It is also rumoured that the original installed copy – all Xbox One games must be installed and played off hard disk, might not function after the disc has been associated with a new account. This will make lending completely impossible. This would potentially restrict all gamers from trading or buying used games or even playing used games on the console, which in turn would mean the death of multiplayer gaming, as we know it. However, Microsoft has good reason to want to restrict gamers’ ability to buy and sell used software, since game publishers make no money off titles traded between retailers and players. Nevertheless, the question needs to be answered if Microsoft has considered that many of those who trade in games use the money from those dealings to procure new games. Without this money, many gamers with lower earnings could end up purchasing fewer games. This in turn, could severely affect new software sales. One imagines if Microsoft is digging its own grave here with this new policy.

Xbox-One-Cost-India.jpg

No Backward Compatibility: Another troubling matter for current Xbox 360 users is that none of their existing hardware software, controllers or peripherals is transferable to the company’s upcoming system. Neither the predated Xbox 360 retail games nor the downloaded XBLA titles can be merged with the Xbox One. The only reprieve that Microsoft is offering gamers is its word-of-mouth that it intends to continue supporting Xbox 360 hardware for a long time. However, this does not alleviate the annoyance of being unable to simply get rid of one machine and replace it with another, or being compelled to shell out about 50$ a pop on new Xbox One controllers when the existing collection of Xbox 360 game pads have the same assortment of buttons and knobs and still function sans any obstacles. It seems extremely likely at this point in time that the new Xbox One seems destined to distance some of Microsoft’s major gaming patrons.

When is it expected
Unfortunately, Microsoft has made no mention of a release date for the Xbox One. More details should stream in July this year. At this point, all indications point towards a launch by the end of 2013, perhaps just before Christmas. This might be a smart ploy on the company’s part to boost sales during the holiday season. If this is actually the case, then the release date for the Xbox One in India will be pushed even further to next year. This is sure to disappoint many avid gamers who would’ve being eagerly awaiting the launch of the Xbox One in India.

To boot, Microsoft claims that the new Kinect utilises infrared, permitting it to operate smoothly even in total darkness.
